After-School All-Stars
Harley A. Harmon Elementary is a proud partner and host site for the After-School All-Stars Las Vegas (ASASLV) program, providing a vital bridge between the school day and the trip home. Designed specifically to serve Title 1 schools, this partnership ensures that students have a safe, supportive environment during the "critical hours" of 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Hosting the program on-site allows students to transition seamlessly from their regular classes into a structured afternoon of growth, all at no cost to families.
What the Program Offers
The ASASLV model is built on three core pillars: Academics, Enrichment, and Health & Fitness. Each day is split to provide a balanced experience:
-
Academic Support: The first hour is dedicated to "Dinner before Dessert," where licensed teachers provide homework help, tutoring, and literacy support. This ensures students reinforce what they learned during the school day.
-
Enrichment Activities: The second hour shifts to "Dessert," offering dynamic classes such as STEM (coding and robotics), Visual & Performing Arts (dance, music, and painting), and Life Skills.
-
Health & Wellness: Students participate in sports and physical activities while receiving a nutritious meal provided by CCSD Food Services, ensuring they stay active and well-fed.
What Students Can Expect
Students who sign up for After-School All-Stars can expect more than just a place to wait for their parents. They become part of a community that fosters confidence and "star potential." Beyond the daily routine at Generic Elementary, the program frequently coordinates field trips across Southern Nevada—ranging from outdoor adventures at Red Rock Canyon to professional sporting events—giving students the chance to connect their learning to the real world. By participating, students typically see an increase in academic performance and social-emotional resilience, helping them succeed both in the classroom and in life.
